just because there is this little cute parasite, my pancreas suddenly doesn't know what is up or down?
Gestational Diabetes is unlike any other form of diabetes
Type 1 diabetes- you are born with it/ it develops when you are young.
Type 2 Diabetes- develops in the adult years, commonly from poor diet.
Gestational diabetes only happens when you are pregnant. some women could go the whole pregnancy with GD and not know it. however, the uncontrolled sugar levels could pose some issues for that cute little parasite *ahem* baby.
All women have to take a GD test in their 3rd trimester. This includes drinking this NASTY glucose drink and getting blood drawn at hour intervals. There are different degrees of failing the GD test. your doctor may have you take the test again, have you watch your diet, or have your glucose monitored and insulin shots.
